After criminals slaughtered her family, a woman emerges from a coma and pledge to revenge their murders as well as the system enabling them. Peppermint gives Jennifer Garner a shot at playing the role of a John Wick / Taken type of role, its action at it best and shows how she becomes the punisher as circumstances force her to leave her law-abiding citizenship behind. It is yet another masterpiece from the director of District B-13, Taken, The Gunman and From Paris with Love.
Alias’ Sydney Bristow Double-Agent Becomes A Kill-Them-All Kind of Hero
It’s almost hard to believe that Garner got her big break as Sydney Bristow a double-agent on Alias, this was more than sixteen years ago. She has more acting experience than the likes of Liam Neeson, and Sean Penn had in their latest venture called Old Man out for a Kill. Yet what she keeps is the “bitter-sweetness” that undeniably made her a big star and now that she finally gets the opportunity to run solo and enjoy all the gunning action she impresses even more. It is indeed great to see a female in the lead in a they-killed-my-family scenario, and Garner is on a mission to kill them all.
How Audiences Remember Jennifer Garner
Alias basically was the dynamite TV series of the year 2001, a year that also saw several debuts including Smallville, law and Order: Criminal Intent, Scrubs and 24. Garner realised that the group that recruited her as a young female fresh out to college was not the CIA but a black-ops organisation and her father a double agent. First, the series was quite a bit overshadowed by 24, yet with the ups and down in the Lost series, Alias soon became a hot favourite.
Jennifer Garner Has Major Hollywood Star Qualities
You have to agree that Garner from the start was the perfect example of what you’d expect from a would-be Hollywood star, yet she got pushed to the back row once Hollywood stopped for a while focussing towards female-centric heroes. Daredevil ensured Ben Affleck thrived, while after Electra, Garner could almost-never recover, yet she did a terrific job in 13 Going on 30, and that was without picking a fight with anyone. She got cast aside after Elekta, which probably was one of the worst comic-hero films plus it was more boring than Batman or Catwomen.
