Movie fanatics have had time to grasp Disney and Sony’s decision to remove Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been headlines indicating that the wall-crawler could return to the MCU, and other’s that have proposed the character won’t ever return. Reportedly there’s been a new deal offered to Disney, which would provide them with 30% of the revenue earned from Spider-Man films. Kevin Feige hasn’t accepted this deal, and reports indicate that unless Sony is willing to take a 50/50 Split, no agreement will come to accords. This is especially disappointed for Tom Holland, who grew up watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfold. However, it is known that Tom will remain playing the character for future films.

The Russo Brothers, the two directors that brought Holland into the MCU, have publicly stated they’re disappointed to Fiege’s decision. The brothers did note that they weren’t surprised though, and happy that Peter Parker could participate in five films. The brothers reminded fans that these are two substantial production houses that have private interests. They added that the fact a deal for five films could ever become a reality was good enough. It’s just disappointing that his story in the MCU is seemingly forever closed.

The Future of Spider-Man 3

The third iteration of this franchise will be incredibly different than Homecoming or Far from Home. It’s anticipated that Sony will be following a similar plotline to this year hit “Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse”. This film did considerably better than anybody expected, which means that our friendly neighbourhood Peter Parker from the MCU could be thrown into another multiverse, where all incarnations of Spiderman are revealed. This only highlight to this decision is the possibility of Tom Hollands and Toby McGuire’s Spiderman interacting with each other.

There hasn’t been any representative at Sony Studios confirming these rumour mills, but inside sources have indicated scripts are already being developed and that production is slated for some time next year. Anybody thinking this is the end of the character has plenty of looks forward to, including a sequel to the highly-rated Spiderman game on the PS4.
